Creature from the Black Lagoon is a 5-reel, 20-payline slot that comes to us from Net Entertainment in conjunction with Universal since the theme is derived from the blockbuster monster horror movie that came out in 1954.
The Creature is the main character in the game and he is a half-human prehistoric creature named Gill-man, who pops up during the Free Spins.
You can play this game with as little as 20p per spin or up to £100 or spin.
Creature from the Black Lagoon is a fantastic and beautifully polished homage to the great horror movies that came out in the 1950's.
Creature from the Black Lagoon Features
There are Free Spins that have wilds giving you re-spins, plus Spreading Wilds pop up when you actually shoot the Creature. In the main game, wild symbols pop up randomly out of nowhere and there are 3 of them. When they pop up they behave like sticky wilds and stay on the reels so you can re-spin. Once the wilds are no longer on the reels, the re-spins stop. I’ve actually won more than 200X my stake just because sticky wilds stayed on the reels and I could keep re-spinning.
It is in the Free Spins feature that the half-fish, half-human prehistoric creature grabs Kay, taking her to his hidden lair way underwater. This feature gets triggered if 3 or more of the Free Spins symbols pop up anyplace on your reels. With 3 symbols you win 10 free spins, 4 gets you 15 free spins, and 5 gets you 20 free spins. Watch for the Target symbol popping up on reel 5 since the Creature shows up on the right and needs to be shot. If you look at the bottom of your screen in the right corner, there is a health metre there that shows the health condition of the Creature.
His health is destroyed when he gets shot. The health metre has 4 different Levels and in Level #1, if you have up to 2 Targets are collected, any wild that pops up will become sticky and stay on the reels to let you have 1 re-spin. In Level #2, if 3 to 5 Targets are collected, this activates the 1st spreading wild and these spread horizontally, 1 spot to the left. They stay there so you can finish 1 re-spin.
In Level #3, if 6 to 8 Targets get collected, the 2nd spreading wild gets triggered and this wild will move one spot to the left and the right and stay there on the reels so you can have 1 re-spin. In Level #4 a total of 9 Targets need to be collected to set off an additional 10 free spins. These wilds again spread towards the left and the right.
Conclusion of Creature from the Black Lagoon
In my opinion, Creature from the Black Lagoon qualifies as a medium high variance game. Although there are lots of small wins in the base game, with the sticky wild retrigger spin feature you can really rack up some nice wins. The expanding wild feature during the Free Spins feature can especially lead to very big wins although it can sometimes disappoint. Creature from the Black Lagoon is one of my favourite Netent slots.
